: La Garrigue
CIRCUIT
:
The ride departs along the Areniers road (Chemin des Aréniers) towards the hill. You will go back in time and pass along a Celtic Ligurian Oppidum, an ancient Roman road that will lead you onto the Heights of Barbentane where you will discover the Cardinal Tower, the Marquis of Barbentane’s tomb and the Windmill. All along this tour, you will see numerous oratories which are associated with numerous legends.
While climbing the hill towards the Montagnette, you will discover the “Palestine Provençale”, the name given to this area by the writer Marie Mauron. Here, you will breathe in the scents of the garrigue, fill your eyes with the beauty of the landscape, walk in the steps of the painter Auguste Chabaud and stroll in Frederic Mistral’s school-playground. You will be immersed in an ocean of tranquillity and harmony off the beaten track.
